When turnips are cooked, their flavour profile slightly changes. Turnips are mildly spicy/peppery when raw, then sweet, nutty, and earthy when cooked. They are most often roasted, mashed or used in creamy soups.
Whilst similar in appearance to swede, a turnip has a whiter bulb with bright purple highlights at the top. In contrast, swede has a yellow to orange bulb with deep purple highlight.
